Conservation Technician Staff Attend AG 101 Training

Three of our Conservation Technicians recently attended the AG 101 Training, held at Whiskey Creek Angus in Churchville. Led by former District Conservationist Bobby Whitescarver and 9th-generation farmer Jeanne Hoffman, participants toured the farm while learning about the basics of livestock and crop farming, farm etiquette and farm safety. They also had the opportunity to see up close a few of the Best Management Practices (BMPs) that are available through the Virginia Agricultural Cost-Share Program (VACS), such as Alternative Watering Systems, Rotational Grazing and Tree Planting.  Staff enjoyed the day and learned quite a bit that will certainly help them with their field work! The training was sponsored by VASWCD in partnership with VA DCR.
