Conservation Technician (Full Time)
The Headwaters Soil and Water Conservation District is accepting applications for the position of Conservation Technician. This full-time position will provide technical assistance to the District in implementing the Virginia Agricultural Best Management Practice cost-share program. Funds are being made available for this position through state grants from the Department of Conservation and Recreation.
The preferred candidate should have a degree in an agricultural/natural resources related field or combination of a high school diploma, continuing education, and successful work experience. A Virginia driver’s license and additional experience in farming, agricultural or the natural resources is required. Computer skills, mechanical aptitude and manual labor experience required. The ability to work with the public is necessary. Starting Salary will be $40,000 – $50,000 depending on skills in ArcGIS, AutoCAD and current DCR or NRCS planning and engineering certifications.
